Labour call for du Plantier investigation to be re-opened

Labour has called for the investigation into the death of Sophie Toscan Du Plantier to be reopened.

Labour has called for the investigation into the death of Sophie Toscan Du Plantier to be reopened.

The party’s justice spokesperson Joe Costello has said that every effort must be made to find out who was responsible for her murder, which took place almost eight years ago.

Mr Costello believes that Gardaí must use any new material that arose during the Ian Bailey libel case to their advantage.

Earlier today Mr Bailey lost his libel action against six of the eight newspapers he claimed defamed him by linking him to the murder of Ms Toscan du Plantier in west Cork in December 1996.
