Teen in custody in connection with fatal stabbing

A 16-year-old boy remains in garda custody this morning in connection with the fatal stabbing of another teenager in Limerick over the weekend.

A 16-year-old boy remains in garda custody this morning in connection with the fatal stabbing of another teenager in Limerick over the weekend.

The victim, who was also 16 and from Ukraine, was stabbed in the chest in Westbury, on the outskirts of Limerick, on Saturday.

He was found lying on a footpath and was pronounced dead on arrival at Limerick Regional Hospital.

The dead teenager's family are believed to have been living in the area for several years.

The 16-year-old being questioned about the killing is understood to be from the Moyross area of Limerick city.
