Firefighters battling Mayo bog blaze

Firefighters are continuing to battle a bog and forest fire that has been burning in Co Mayo for the last four days.

Firefighters are continuing to battle a bog and forest fire that has been burning in Co Mayo for the last four days.

A number of private and state-owned forests have been destroyed by the blaze, which broke out on Monday and is spread over several kilometres.

Fire tenders from Belmullet, Crossmolina and Ballina are tackling the flames along with a helicopter, Coillte staff and local people.

The cause of the blaze is unknown.
