A post mortem is due to be carried out today on the body of a four-year-old boy who died in a tragic accident at a school in Co Clare yesterday evening.

The boy, who was a junior infants' pupil at Feakle National School, somehow got locked in the building yesterday afternoon.

He then appears to have attempted to climb out a toilet window, but his anorak got snagged on a hook, leaving him dangling by the neck.

The toddler is believed to have been discovered by other pupils, including his seven-year-old brother.

Some adults who were nearby at the time released the youngster and carried out CPR, but he was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital in Ennis by ambulance.
