Shamrock Rovers 3 Galway United 1
Dessie Baker was the star of the show today as Shamrock Rovers got back to winning ways in the league.
Rovers, whose last league win was against Galway three months ago, blitzed the Tribesmen from the first whistle to run up a 2-0 lead inside eight minutes.
A Baker corner was headed to the net, with the help of a deflection off Shay Conneely, by midfielder Darragh Maguire for the lead goal on three minutes.
Five minutes later Baker freed Sean O'Connor down the right and his low crossed was sliced into his own bet by Alan Keane.
Galway skipper John Fitzgerald got a goal back when turning well to shoot home from the edge of the boc on 39 minutes.
But Baker played Tadhg Purcell through to finish with aplomb four minutes later as Rovers resotred the two goal winning margin.
