Two men are being held in Co Louth after a shooting incident in Dundalk early today.

Two men are being held in Co Louth after a shooting incident in Dundalk early today.

They are being held under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act.

Residents in the town say they heard shots shortly before 3am. Gardaí sealed off the area and arrested two local men about half an hour later.

A number of spent cartridges were found in a search of the area. No one was injured in the incident.
