A cyclist has been killed in a hit-and-run in Co Monaghan.

Gardaí investigate fatal hit-and-run in Monaghan

A cyclist has been killed in a hit-and-run in Co Monaghan.

It happened on the Carrickmacross to Castleblaney road at around 10.15pm last night.

The 23-year-old man was hit by a vehicle that failed to stop and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road is closed for technical examination and Gardaí are appealing for information.
