A major recruitment campaign for the new police service in the North is set to get underway on Friday.

Speculation is also mounting that British Prime Minister Tony Blair is standing by to fly to the North as the bid to broker a deal on policing, decommissioning and demilitarisation intensifies.

The recruitment drive for the new police service will see the launch of a huge promotional campaign with television adverts screened both here and in Britain.
