Borgetti inching close to return
Mexico team official Guillermo Cantu believes Jared Borgetti is on the verge of a return, but insists the striker will have the last say on his fitness.
The Bolton man suffered a thigh injury during the 3-1 win over Iran 11 days ago and missed the games against Angola and Portugal.
Coach Ricardo Lavolpe is now waiting to discover whether he can include his chief goal threat in the line-up to face Argentina in the next round on Saturday.
“I see he is quite well, and improving day by day“, said Cantu.
“I cannot say he is 100% fit and cured because it is the player who has the last word in this kind of thing.
“The player himself is the best doctor and he is aware of when he is fully fit to play.”
