Drogheda had to settle for a second successive scoreless draw - their fourth of the league season - as they blew a chance to narrow the gap on leaders Shelbourne to one point.

Drogheda had the better of the first half but could find no way past Town keeper Mick Dempsey who made two outstanding saves from the hardworking Tony Grant.

Town did have the best opening of the first half on 30 minutes, but Dessie Baker toed wide in a goalmouth scramble.

Drogheda remained the better side into the second half but failed to break down a resolute Town defence as chances for Paul Keegan, and Shane Robinson came to nothing.
