Sinn Féin have 'no confidence' in new minority Government

Sinn Féin has said it has no confidence in a Fine Gael led minority Government which would be supported by Fianna Fáil.

However the party has said it will await the details of a programme for Government before making a full assessment of the plans.

A draft agreement between Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael was reached by negotiating teams from both parties yesterday evening.

Fine Gael is due to meet with the Independent Alliance on Monday, in a bid to secure the group's support.

Sinn Féin TD David Cullinane, has said they do not believe the two main parties can solve the major problems currently facing the country: “We don’t have confidence in either Fianna Fáil or Fine Gael to deliver on the big issues that face people whether it is housing or healthcare or water charges, or any of these issues.

“So we will have to see the detail of what has been teased out between these two parties, we have made it very clear that we will hold Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael to account for any decisions that are made by this new conservative Government.”
