Amadeus returned to the winner's enclosure after a year-long absence when landing the eventful Weatherbys Bank Handicap Chase.
Un Autre Espere was the early leader but after the fourth tried to run out and hit the rail, unseating his rider Noel Fehily.
Then Kercabellec went on, only to blunder and lose the advantage five from home.
That left Jolly Boy out in front before he was headed by Amadeus approaching three fences from the finish.
Rider Tom Scudamore wasn’t in the mood to hang about on the eight-year-old, who put a 10-race losing streak behind him when easing to a 20-length triumph from Brigadier Du Bois.
It was a deserved 9-2 win for the Michael Scudamore-trained gelding after a string of decent, if unsuccessful, efforts.
Tom Scudamore said: “He’s won well. He’s a fantastic jumper and that’s what’s won him the race. It was pretty chaotic out there.
“It took them six and a half hours to get up here with the horse – they didn’t have a very good run. But this will make the long journey back seem a bit shorter.”
