Police in the North have launched a formal murder inquiry following the death of a woman in Ballymena, Co Antrim, earlier this week.

Police in the North have launched a formal murder inquiry following the death of a woman in Ballymena, Co Antrim, earlier this week.

Twenty-four-year-old local woman Shirley Finlay was found dead on Mount Street on Tuesday afternoon.

The PSNI has upgraded its investigation to a murder inquiry after receiving the results of a post mortem on her body.

However, the cause of death has not been disclosed.
