A bomb exploded next to a parked car in the centre of Jerusalem today and set the vehicle alight, but no one was hurt.

The police bomb squad found a second bomb inside the car and were dealing with it, said spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby.

The car was parked close to police headquarters and near the site of this month’s pizzeria suicide bombing that killed 16 people.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for today’s explosion.

However, militant Palestinians have carried out bombing attacks against Israeli targets throughout the almost 11 months of Mideast violence.
