Sharon, 78, suffered a devastating stroke on January 4 and has been in a coma since.

After the stroke, Ehud Olmert stepped in for him immediately as acting prime minister. Olmert’s Kadima Party has since won a national election, and Olmert is trying to form a coalition government.
