RTÉ pledges to co-operate in any drugs investigation

RTÉ said today that it will fully co-operate with the authorities, following claims that traces of heroin were found at its main canteen in Montrose.

The Irish Sun newspaper reports that a "police-approved" detection kit found traces of the drug on a toilet lid in the main canteen.

In a statement, RTÉ urged the newspaper to make available to the gardaí all the information and materials in its possession without delay.

RTÉ said the traces, as reported in the paper, were found in an part of the facility, most frequently used by staff and visitors to the station.

It continued to say that it is awaiting further information and advice and security staff will continue to carry out checks and tests at the station.
