Postcodes WILL be in place next year

It's official - postcodes will be introduced in Ireland next year.

The Department of Communications has signed a contract with a private consortium to have postcodes assigned to every house by the first quarter of next year, 10 years after postcodes were first adopted as official government policy.

The contract signed with Capita Ireland will see every address in Ireland given a unique seven-character postcode, with Dublin's existing postal districts incorporated into the new system.
