Portlaoise meeting to air hospital concerns

A meeting against any downgrading of the Midland Regional Hospital in Portlaoise will take place tomorrow night.

There are fears for acute surgery, A&E and other services at the facility as the country faces into a junior doctor shortage from July 11.

Laois County Councillors are seeking a meeting about the concerns with Health Minister Dr James Reilly and HSE management.

The Hospital Action Committee is behind tomorrow night's gathering at Portlaoise GAA club from 8pm.
