More schools participate in meals scheme

A hundred new schools have indicated they want to take part in the school meals scheme, enabling an extra 5,000 children to avail of a daily dinner, or snack.

A hundred new schools have indicated they want to take part in the school meals scheme, enabling an extra 5,000 children to avail of a daily dinner, or snack.

Minister for Social and Family Affairs Mary Coughlan doubled funding for the scheme to €4m and revised it to allow secondary and primary schools throughout the country to participate.
