Limerick factory seeks 130 voluntary redundancies

The Flextronics factory in Limerick city has announced that it is seeking 130 voluntary redundancies from its workforce of 500.

The Flextronics factory in Limerick city has announced that it is seeking 130 voluntary redundancies from its workforce of 500.

The company, which manufactures casing for computer companies, is also seeking to lay off 40 contract workers.

Flextronics recently closed its plant in Tullamore, Co Offaly, with the loss of 370 jobs, after deciding to move the operation to low-cost locations in Asia.

Last year, the company announced plans to shed 10,000 jobs worldwide after revealing third-quarter losses of $330m (€373m).
