Barcelona vice-president Sandro Rosell has admitted the Spanish giants will not be able to match Manchester United’s terms in the battle to sign Ronaldinho.
Paris St Germain’s Brazilian star is wanted by both clubs as well as United’s Premiership rivals Chelsea.
Rosell yesterday expressed his confidence that Barcelona could snatch the World Cup winner from United – the player’s preferred option – but now appears to have accepted that their bid is a stronger one.
Rosell told BBC Sport Online: “I have been told that Manchester United have made a higher offer.
“We have two advantages: the city of Barcelona and the magnificence of the club.
“We are asking players to come only if they are committed to the club. If it is only about money we would prefer him to go to United.
“He can make money in Manchester, but if he understands what it means to play for Barcelona and a country like Catalonia then he is more than welcome.
“We will not match United’s personal terms. It’s about the player’s commitment, it’s not about money. Maybe we are too romantic.”
United have reportedly made a £19m (€27m) offer to PSG for the 24-year-old, whose agent Roberto Assis this week indicated a preference for a move to United.
Barcelona rejoined the race when rivals Real Madrid withdrew their interest.
The player is determined to leave PSG and landed himself in trouble with the club when he failed to report for pre-season training on time.
