At least 14 people were killed when a female suicide bomber exploded herself today in a crowd of Iraqi police recruits north-east of Baghdad, police and hospital officials said.

At least 14 people were killed when a female suicide bomber exploded herself today in a crowd of Iraqi police recruits north-east of Baghdad, police and hospital officials said.

The woman, wearing a black abaya, walked into a crowd of about 200 police recruits at the main gate of the Muqdadiyah police station, a police officer at the scene said.

At least 14 people were killed and 20 injured, said an official at Muqdadiyah General Hospital.

Muqdadiyah is about 60 miles north-east of Baghdad.
