An armed gang has escaped with an undisclosed sum of money after a raid on a chip shop in Ballincollig, Co Cork.

An armed gang has escaped with an undisclosed sum of money after a raid on a chip shop in Ballincollig, Co Cork.

The men were armed with two shotguns and a handgun. They were wearing balaclavas and entered Dino's chipper in the square from the rear of the building and threatened staff.

The gang fled with a small amount of cash but no shots were fired and no one was injured.

They made their getaway in a Saab car.

It is the second armed robbery in the town in 24 hours.
