Investigators now suspect that there may be a drugs link in the incident that left a 19-year-old youth recovering in Cork University Hospital.

The victim was shot in front of his girlfriend in a take-away on Thomas Davis street.

The man with a gun was wearing a balaclava.

The gunman escaped the scene in a white Renault with a ‘94-C’ registration.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses to contact Mayfield Garda station on 4558510.
