An Ebola test on a patient at a Cardiff hospital has come back negative, officials have confirmed.
The person, who has a history of travel to west Africa, was taken to the University Hospital of Wales with symptoms of the virus.
Following investigations, Public Health Wales said the cause of the illness was not Ebola.
Marion Lyons, director of health protection at Public Health Wales, said: “It is important to remember that, to date, only one case of Ebola has been identified in the UK and there has been none in Wales.”
Ebola symptoms include sudden fever, intense weakness, muscle pain and a sore throat. Subsequent stages are vomiting, diarrhoea and in some cases internal and external bleeding.
More than 9,800 people have died since the outbreak began in March last year.
