The UK population has risen to more than 59 million, figures released by the Office for National Statistics showed today.

The UK population has risen to more than 59 million, figures released by the Office for National Statistics showed today.

The latest data calculates the number of people living in the country in 2002 was 59.2 million and was expected to go up to 64.8 million by 2031.

The 2002 level was an 18% increase from 50.3 million in 1951 and a 2.9% increase over the last decade, according to a report.
