A tactical ballistic missile has been launched by Iraq aimed at Kuwait City, US Army commanders said today.

Colonel Youssef al-Mullah, a spokesman for the Kuwaiti military, said on Kuwait Television that the sirens were sounded in the capital city because Iraq fired four Scud missiles at Kuwait.

One was intercepted, and the rest fell in the Northern area and in Kuwait Bay, he said.

There were no injuries he said, and it is still not known if they had any non-conventional weapons.
