Motivator and Azamour remain on course for a mouth-watering clash in Saturday’s Baileys Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown.

The pair were among 12 horses left in the 10-furlong race at the five-day confirmation stage and last year’s winner Azamour is the even-money favourite with Coral for back-to-back successes.

Derby winner Motivator will have the benefit of a pacemaker, Temple Place, should he line up in the Group One event, but connections have warned he might sidestep the race if the ground is too firm.

The Michael Bell-trained colt is also entered for the Prix Niel at Longchamp on Sunday.
