An experimental Monaghan side proved no match for Louth at Dundalk tonight as Shane Lennon guided the hosts through to the Tommy Murphy Cup semi-finals.

The Kilkerley forward amassed a personal tally of 3-05 as Louth set up a last-four clash with Antrim next weekend.

Lennon rippled Padraig McBennett's net twice in the opening half to help his side towards a 2-07 to 1-06 interval lead. Castleblayney's Ciaran Hanratty netted for the visitors.

Louth, who were also understrength manager Eamonn McEneaney had only 17 players at training on Monday night, managed to extend their lead in the second half.
