People leaving the Electric Picnic this morning are being urged to make sure they are in a fit state to drive.

Research shows that it takes one hour for your body to get rid of one standard drink.

Superintendent Joe Prendergast from Portlaoise garda station said: "Make sure number one that you have a sufficient rest period, because we don't want people driving that are overly tired.

"And secondly people want to be aware that you can't drive if you've alcohol in your system, and wait whatever length of time it takes until you're in a position to drive."
