Hoops deducted eight points
Shamrock Rovers have been deducted eight points by the FAI First Instance Club Licensing Committee for irregularities in their application for a FAI Club Licence.
The club was initially awarded a Licence in February on appeal before it was discovered during the Examinership process that accounts submitted to the Licence application were not accurate with €600,000 in debts missing from the balance sheet.
Rovers were hauled before the Club Licensing Committee last week to explain the error and, after the Committee broke up to seek clarifications last week, it met again last night before handing down the punishment.
As part of the punishment, Rovers have been deducted eight points and had their Licence revoked.
The punishment will not be appealed with sources in Rovers saying that the punishment has been accepted.
