Valuable three points for Drogheda
Drogheda United 1 UCD 0
Alan McNally scored the goal that brought a four-match losing steak to UCD to an end at Hunky Dorys Park on the night Drogheda appointed Paul Lumsden as their new manager.
Drogheda blew a chance to take the lead on 34 minutes when Joe Kendrick’s penalty shaved the outside of a post after Ryan Brennan was taken down in the box.
But all was forgiven on 77 minutes when Droheda got their winner.
Brennan initially won a corner when forcing a super save from Billy Brennan. McNally then arrived to head home the flag kick to give Drogheda a morale-boosting win in their battle to avoid relegation.
