The temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas is being observed, but Israel's military said it would continue to target tunnels Hamas has dug into its territory.

An Israeli tank shelling killed 18 Palestinians from the same family, shortly before the truce began. And a premature baby has been delivered from a woman killed in a Israeli airstrike on Gaza.

More than 800 people have been killed in Gaza since Israel launched its military offensive.

Irish Human Rights worker based in the West Bank Elaine Bradley said people on the ground were shocked by the lack of support from the international community.

"There is a sense of total and utter abandonment by the international community," she said. "People cannot believe that the international community are so uninvolved."

Meanwhile, demonstrations will be held at a number of locations across the country today, as Irish people protest against the ongoing hostilities in Gaza.

Several thousand people attended the country’s largest protest in Dublin last Saturday.

Today's march in Dublin will start at 2pm at the Spire on O'Connell Street, while a demonstration in Cork begins at Daunt Square at 1pm.
