A UK comedy club has apologised after maggots from a dead pigeon fell out of the air conditioning unit and on to members of the audience during a show.
People took to Tripadviser to voice their complaints after the incident during the Jongleurs Comedy Club night being held at Oceana in Nottingham last Friday.
The dead bird was found in the air conditioning unit.
The club’s operators have apologised but said they did not receive any complaints on the night.
A spokeswoman for the Luminar Group said Jongleurs has an agreement with the operators of Oceana to use the club for comedy nights.
She said: “It would appear that a pigeon crawled through some side netting on the building and went into the air conditioning unit. It subsequently died.
“When the team at Jongleurs switched on the air conditioning, it disturbed the body and a few maggots fell out through the air conditioning.
“We would stress it was only a few and there were no complaints on the evening. The incident was promptly resolved on the night and the netting repaired.”
Jongleurs has since contacted all customers who were at the event and offered them free tickets.
The spokeswoman added: “Jongleurs is all about giving people a great comedy experience and we can only apologise that we fell short on this occasion.
“We accept there was a minor issue with the air conditioning unit, which was completely out of our control, and has since been rectified.
“However, we would like to stress that the vast majority of the audience enjoyed the evening and stayed for the duration of the show.”
