Gaddafi opens arms depots to supporters

Libyan Leader Colonel Gaddafi says all Libyan people are now carrying weapons to defend the country.

Speaking on State Radio in the past few minutes, he said he is confident that Government forces on the ground will be victorious.

Colonel Gaddafi has threatened attacks on targets in the Mediterranean.

The Libyan leader said he will open arms depots to the people to defend Libya.

Libyan TV is reporting 48 civilian deaths, but there is no independent confirmation of this.

Colonel Gaddafi also called on other members of the international community to stop the offensive.

"We would call upon the nations of the Arab world, Africa, Latin America and Asian nations to support the victorious Libyan people to stop this aggression," said Gaddafi.
