One dead and dozens injured as South Korea trains collide head-on
Officials say two trains have collided head-on in eastern South Korea, leaving one passenger dead and dozens of others injured.
Fire officials say the collision between two passenger trains occurred in the eastern Gangwon province, but the cause of the incident was not immediately known.
The officials say one woman in her 60s was killed and 65 people were sent to hospitals for injuries.
The collision is the latest in a series of deadly incidents that has happened in South Korea as the country is undergoing soul-searching on public safety after April’s ferry disaster that left more than 300 people dead or missing.
