There will be 50 new jobs in Ireland created in a Kilkenny-headquartered telecommunications firm that is currently involved in the roll-out of the National Broadband Plan.

Entegro will bring the roles on stream over the next year, as well as expanding in Poland with another 20 new roles in a new “design support centre” as part of the company’s European expansion plans.

The Irish-owned firm said the roles will bring its new hires to over 100 within 12 months, after it announced 50 new jobs in May of this year. The company was launched in October 2019, growing from its then 80 staff to 150 now.

“As a business, we are delighted to be involved in the delivery of such an ambitious and vital project as the National Broadband Plan. It will provide much needed future-proofed connectivity in rural Ireland,” CEO Jim Doyle said.

Covid has presented challenges but the entire Entegro team has really stepped up to the mark and without their professionalism, hard work and teamwork, our continued success and growth would not have been possible.

“Through the NBP contract and ongoing work with existing clients such as Virgin Media IE, Siro, Fibrus Northern Ireland, Cityfibre UK and Century Link US we are helping people to work remotely and we are sustaining jobs locally.

The full deployment of the National Broadband Plan will take five to seven years and will involve constructing approximately 146,000km of fibre cable to connect over one million people in the roll-out area.

Entegro recruitment is already underway online for multiple new positions across various disciplines, ranging from FTTH Design Engineers, GIS Technicians, Field Surveyors and Project Managers.
