Holiday rental accommodation website Airbnb have announced they will offer short-term housing for up to 100,000 refugees fleeing conflict in Ukraine.

Following Russia's invasion of the country, it is estimated that at least 300,000 Ukrainian refugees have entered the EU so far.

Airbnb said the stays will be funded by the Airbnb.org Refugee Fund and the generosity of Airbnb hosts.

The company said they will work with non-profit organisations on the ground, which will be responsible for booking and co-ordinating stays for refugee guests.

The announcement follows news last week that the company has provided housing to 21,300 Afghan refugees, increasing their goal to provide temporary accommodation to an additional 20,000 refugees from around the world.

Airbnb added that anyone wishing to offer accommodation for refugees as part of the initiative can find more information on their website.
