Alec Baldwin has praised Demi Moore for her Golden Globes win and “bravery” in taking on horror film The Substance.

Ghost actress Moore, 62, gave an impassioned speech as she scooped her first gong at the awards on Sunday and reflected on what it is to feel “you will never be enough”.

The Hollywood star, whose win likely makes her a frontrunner for the Oscars, beat the likes of Wicked star Cynthia Erivo, Nightbitch’s Amy Adams, and Challengers actress Zendaya.

In an Instagram video, Baldwin said: “I just want to say, I couldn’t be any happier for Demi Moore, I think that’s great.

“I mean, there’s a lot of people who are worthy. Do these award shows ever get it right as far as we’re concerned?

“I have not many, but a couple stories of times I was like throwing my beer can, or whatever, at the TV years ago, especially when one person didn’t win and one person did win, one of those moments incensed me.

“But they’re never going to make everybody happy, obviously.”

He added: “So without any denigration of anybody else who was up for this award, I am so glad for Demi.

“I mean, a woman who was a child of the movie business.

“She’s been in that business for so long, I knew her when we were both super young. I made a movie with her, The Juror, but I’m so happy.”

He continued: “I’m so happy for her because, I think, that that movie, the bravery, the bravery that she put out to do that.

“I mean, a movie that you say, ‘I’m gonna take a big swing here, and maybe it’s not gonna work’, but the only way you find that is to take that swing.”

He then congratulated Moore and said: “I hope there’s more to come.”

In December, an appeal on a court’s decision to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter case against Baldwin, 66, over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on set of movie Rust was dropped.

In The Substance, directed by French film-maker Coralie Fargeat, Moore plays Hollywood star Elisabeth Sparkle, who considers a new treatment to look younger.

For the film, Moore wore prosthetics and told Variety’s Actors On Actors that she would have to sit “anywhere from six to nine-and-a-half  hours” while they were being put on.

Big winners at this year’s awards also included musical thriller Emilia Perez and drama The Brutalist, which won the award for best motion picture drama.
