Irish TV presenter Angela Scanlon and her professional partner Carlos Gu have topped the BBC Strictly Come Dancing leader board with their Charleston from the film Damn Yankees.
The pair performed an upbeat synchronised number to Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon’s Who’s Got The Pain? sporting the signature bowler hats and yellow ensemble from the “most celebrated dance scene in movie history”.
Judging their movie week performance from the 1958 musical comedy, Anton Du Beke said: “I’ll tell you this, that was the best number that I’ve seen on the whole series.
“It’s everything I love as a dancer, if I want to watch a dance this is exactly how I want it to be performed, it is as clean as a whistle, you’ve got springs in your shoes, you’re all sort of bouncy and I love that.”

Craig Revel Horwood described the dance as “absolutely brilliant”, while Motsi Mabuse said it had a “perfect” level of energy.
Judge Shirley Ballas added: “I love the trust that you have with each other, it’s absolutely spectacular and I loved the fact that you can go from the beginning to the end – your stamina is incredible.
“Just looking from the beginning to now, the improvement you’ve made so congratulations and what an evening to bring it on.”
After the performance, which scored the couple 35 – topping the lead board, Scanlon revealed her parents were in the front row of the audience watching for the first time.
It comes a week after their jive saw the couple score 29 out of 40.
