TV presenter Maya Jama has said that her and rapper Stormzy are happy in the “friendship zone” following their second break-up.
The rapper, real name Michael Omari, began dating Love Island host Jama in 2014 before the pair broke up for the first time in 2019, and rekindled their relationship in August 2023.
Jama, 30, told the Guardian that her last partner was in July 2024, when her and 31-year-old Stormzy announced their separation.
When asked if they would get back together, she said: “No, I think we’re happy in this friendship zone.”
She also said: “I think it’s nice that people love him for being cute and love me for being cute, and when two people you like come together then people get excited by it.
“That’s just what happens in the celebrity world, don’t you think?”
She added: “Anybody I date is going to be a thing at the moment.
“Because everybody I’m seen with – any friend, or my cousin recently – it’s Maya and the mystery man, so I can’t be seen with any man publicly without the media making a story of it.”
Chart-topper Stormzy’s 2019 song Lessons is said to be about the couple’s first break-up.
Jama is currently on the judging panel of The Masked Singer, after replacing Rita Ora, and is returning as a host of the upcoming series of Love Island: All Stars.
She has presented BBC radio shows and the Brit Awards as well as hosting her own podcast called When Life Gives You Melons.
There has been reports of Jama being linked to Portuguese footballer Ruben Dias, who plays for Manchester City.
