Westlife singer Brian McFadden has been unveiled as one of the celebrities to take on The Weakest Link for charity.

Romesh Ranganathan is hosting the BBC quiz show for his second series as it starts airing next month.

Celebrity contestants, which also include radio presenter Scott Mills, BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty, actress Ruby Wax and drag queen Lawrence Chaney, will battle it out for a chance to win up to £50,000 for charity.

The broadcaster said previously that the new celebrity version appeared popular with viewers with the series reaching 18.4 million last year.

They will be doing themed episodes which include Strictly Come Dancing, a Christmas special, New Year’s Eve, daytime TV, food and drink and sports.

Ranganathan replaced no-nonsense quizmaster Anne Robinson as the host of The Weakest Link in December 2021.

Last year’s series saw Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing, broadcaster Nikki Fox, food critic Jay Rayner and comedian Ed Gamble take on the quiz show.

The original series was first broadcast in 2000 before ending 12 years later. It returned for a Children In Need special in 2017.

Ranganathan also hosted a special edition with soap stars during Children In Need 2022.

Coronation Street’s Antony Cotton beat EastEnders’ Max Bowden, Hollyoaks’ Kirsty-Leigh Porter and Emmerdale’s Chris Bisson this month.

Ranganathan (44) will also star in upcoming Romantic Getaway with Katherine Ryan which will air on Sky in January.

The series, also written by him, will explore him and Ryan robbing their boss to afford IVF as they have difficulties having children.
