Netflix has released a teaser trailer for a new series filmed in Co Wicklow from the creator of The Vampire Diaries.
The six-part series, Fate: The Winx Saga, follows five fairies attending a magical boarding school in a live-action reimagining of the Italian cartoon series Winx Club.
The cast includes stars from shows including The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Normal People and Downton Abbey.
The coming-of-age journey sees the young fairies learn to master their powers while navigating love, rivalries, and “the monsters that threaten their very existence”.
Casting includes Abigail Cowen as Bloom (The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), Hannah van der Westhuysen as Stella (Grantchester, Lamborghini), Precious Mustapha as Aisha (Endeavour), and Eliot Salt as Terra (Normal People).
Fate: The Winx Saga is a Netflix original series from Archery Pictures Production, in association with Rainbow.
The series features Brian Young, a creator of The Vampire Diaries, as one of its executive producers.
It will premiere globally on Netflix on January 22, 2021.
