Sir Elton John has apologised to Gary Lineker for settling a £10 (€11.53) bet several weeks late after his beloved Watford Football Club lost to Leicester City.
Match Of The Day host Lineker shared a photo to social media which featured a handwritten card from the Rocket Man singer alongside a £10 note.
The card read: “Dear Gary, sorry this is late! With Christmas we were left a little short!
“Have a great new year. It was so great to see you! Thank you. Love Elton.”

Former England footballer Lineker captioned his post: “Never let it be said that Elton John doesn’t pay his debts. Leicester 2 Watford 0.”
The football teams played against one another on November 25th, with Jamie Vardy securing Leicester their first victory in three matches by scoring two goals.
Leicester-born Lineker played for his home team from 1978 to 1985 before moving to Everton.
John has been a fan of Watford since his childhood days, attending matches with his father at the Vicarage Road stadium since he was five years old.
He later became vice-president of the club before buying it in 1976, when he became chairman and president.
In 2002, the veteran singer stepped down as chairman of the club for the final time but he has remained the club’s honorary life-president.
