British comedian John Oliver has a way of signing things off with a bang and for his seventh season of Last Week Tonight, he did just that.
After 2016 Oliver capped things off with a montage of people bemoaning the year that Donald Trump was elected president and the Brexit referendum took place.
The comedian felt it was appropriate to blow up a sign with 2016 on it, getting rid of the bad taste the year left in his mouth.
At the time he called it one of the worst years in recent memory but now with how 2020 has turned out, Oliver capped off the season the only way he knows how to.
In the season finale for the HBO show, Oliver mentioned the Australian wildfires which were so prominent earlier in the year. He also spoke about the standoff between the US and Iran, the civil unrest which erupted in the United States after the killing of George Floyd and of course the Covid-19 pandemic.
Actor Adam Driver also made an appearance on the show as Oliver appeared to have a budding affection for the actor over the course of the season, with constant references to him.
In a reference to the Truman Show, Oliver also appeared to be recording the show from an endless void and like the film he got to see what was on the other side.
It turns out it was really a sign with 2020 on it and then the video cuts to Oliver with a trigger in his hand ready to say goodbye to 2020. You can watch the video in full down below.
