A musician has created a '12 pubs of drums' video to celebrate Christmas in his hometown of Gorey, Co Wexford.

Conor Moore's '12 pubs of drums' features the town's 12 pubs, including the likes of Browne's, the Bridge Bar, and French's.

Mr Moore, a drummer who has performed at events all over the world, uses everything from bar stools, pint glasses and newspapers to produce a catchy rhtymn.

Inspired by the iconic 'Choose Life' speech from Trainspotting, the video also features a positive message about Christmas and what it means to individuals and families.

Mr Moore told BreakingNews.ie: "The layering of the rhythms and the ideas of the sources of sounds in the pubs were 100 per cent chosen on the spot, written on the spot, played on the spot and recorded on the spot.

"A rhythm could change before Conor (videographer) calls 'action'. Many ask me how I record as regards the process... I only want to hear a click (metronome) and the rhythms I’ve played up until that point. Therefore I know where to fit everything."

Mr Moore said recording for the pub footage took just over a day and a half, recording of rhytmn and walking into pubs took 9 hours, while the running scene took two hours.

He was full of praise for two friends who worked on the video with him, videographer Conor Stafford, and Ian Dowdall.

"Every second counted as regards detail, time, rhythm, colour and showing off Gorey’s best side.

"I’m a very proud Gorey man which is evident from the video. I don’t think I could do this project for another town on the planet, my heart isn’t from anywhere else but Gorey. I think that’s why it resonates so well with the viewers and the people of Gorey themselves."

"The pub's faces speak for themselves, they all have character and no two pubs are anywhere near the same. I’d love to give my pub by pub analysis but I don’t think there’s enough ink. They all possess the X factor we look for in all pubs - that atmosphere."

The video has been up for three days, racking up 150,000 views on social media.

Mr Moore added: "This year's video storyline of Choose Life came from a turbulent place. For such a light hearted idea and direct reference to the movie Trainspotting, it was something I never expected to bring myself to.

"It’s just usually record rhythms, layer them up, introduce song and go. This time, it had the message of choosing life’s luxuries around Christmas time for the intro and some of Christmas’ pondering moments the for the outro.

"I’ve just had a year of bad news as well as moving into a beautiful new home so I felt the video was a way of venting in some ways. The phrase 'Choose Life' translates to me as 'you’re alive so don’t be worrying. What’s going to happen will happen and there’s no changing that.'"
