Gauche Market, run by Rotten Rouge, is back in Wigwam on Middle Abbey St this weekend, going from brat summer to brat autumn, from 12-5pm on Sunday. The Autumn Days edition brings their usual decorated venue, book swap, – bring a book, take a book – a vast lineup of vendors selling a range of handmade products including crafts, jewellery, candles, alongside a tarot reader, and more.
The Big Grill Festival, Europe’s largest barbecue and food festival, is in Dublin until Sunday in Herbert Park. Tickets cost €29.50 per day, and feasting, eating challenges, games for children and live music are just some of the things that will be on offer.

For those of you who rather crisps to barbecue, the Eatyard Crisp Festival 2024 is also on in Dublin this weekend, taking place in The Bernard Shaw until Sunday. The four-day crisp homage promises to bring together all old favourites with a bodytonic buzz, and the most extensive crisp menu you have probably ever seen. There will be a crispy quiz, bottomless crunch, DJs, bands, entertainers, a crisp sandwich making competition, blind crisp tasting contests and more.
In Sligo, Strandhill people’s market takes place from 11am to 4pm on Sunday, while the annual Warriors Run takes place in Strandhill on Saturday. While registration is closed for the run, the town is certain to be abuzz, and you can register for the Warrior’s Walk and Young Warriors Run on race weekend.
In celebration of National Heritage Week Craggaunowen Castle and Crannóg in Co Clare, you can discover the magic of Irish storytelling, where ancient legends and modern tales intertwine on Saturday, August 24th, while a number of other events will also be taking place.
Elsewhere in the county, in Ennistymon, the Pot of Films Festival, a festival about celebrating the world of Irish filmmaking and exploring all the different facets and roles of the film industry. There will be a variety of workshops, talks and screenings.
A family fun day takes place at Riverview Shopping Centre in Bandon, Co Cork, from 1-5pm on Sunday. Organised by the Bandon Walled Town Festival, there will be battle reenactments, woodcarving, coin minting, face painting, balloon modelling, a puppet show, fun and games, and craft and food stalls, to name a few. Also as part of the festival, there will be music, history talks and guided walks on Saturday and Sunday.
