Gardaí have so far recorded 68 motorists speeding on 'National Slow Down Day'.
In the first five hours, gardaí checked the speeds of 37,777 vehicles.
Some of the highest speeds include a motorist driving 113km/h in a 80km/h zone on the R245 Cashelshanaghan Letterkenny in Donegal.
On the N4 Drishoge, Carrick on Shannon, in Co Roscommon, a driver was recorded going 94km/h in a 60km/h zone, while in Limerick, someone driving 106km/h in a 80km/h zone was detected.
In Kerry, a driver was recorded going 124km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N22 Gortatlea in Tralee.
In Waterford, a motorist was recorded driving 69km/h in a 50km/h zone on the R708 Ballytruckle Green.
Gardaí are appealing to drivers to comply with speed limits in order to reduce the number of speed-related collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads.
