Five people have been taken to hospital after a building collapsed in Co Mayo.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene in Kilkelly on Tuesday morning after the property collapsed.
The premises on Main Street operated as a pub with bed and breakfast accommodation above.
Five people were rescued and taken to hospital for treatment to injuries which are believed to be not life-threatening.
Fianna Fáil Cllr John Caulfield said the people were “very fortunate” to get out.
“The roof came down all in one. It happened around nine o’clock and fortunately it wasn’t a school morning, because otherwise children would have been passing, and it did collapse out onto the pavement,” Cllr Caulfield told the Western People.
“Fortunately, the emergency services were there very quick.”
Main Street has been sealed off and local traffic diversions are in place, with people being asked to avoid the area if possible.
Gardaí and the Health and Safety Authority will conduct separate investigations into what happened.
