Agricultural Output Prices Sees Increase To Potatoes, Milk And Vegetables In July

Agricultural Output Prices in July 2024 saw increases to potatoes (+34.9 per cent), milk (+22.3 per cent), and vegetables (+8.1 per cent), according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

The overall Agricultural Output Price Index was up 8.8 per cent in the 12 months to July 2024.

The Agricultural Input Price Index dropped by 6.8 per cent over the same period.

The most significant Output Price decreases in the 12 months to July 2024 were in cereals (-31.4 per cent), industrial & forage crops (-26.4 per cent), and eggs (-3.7 per cent).

Over the 12 months to July 2024, there were significant reductions in the Input prices recorded for electricity (-20.6 per cent), feed (-15.2 per cent), and fertilisers (-7.9 per cent), while motor fuel rose by 10.8 per cent.

The monthly Terms of Trade grew by 1.0 per cent in July 2024 when compared with the previous month. The annual Terms of Trade went up by 16.7 per cent when compared with July 2023.

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) has today (13 September 2024) released Agricultural Price Indices July 2024.

Commenting on the release, Dr Nele van der Wielen, statistician in the Agriculture Division, said: "From June 2024 to July 2024, the monthly Agricultural Output Price Index increased by 0.1 per cent, while the Input Price Index decreased by 0.9 per cent.

"In the same period, substantial reductions in the Input sub-indices were recorded for all categories related to Feeding Stuffs as well as for Electricity (-20.6 per cent), and Fertilisers (-7.9 per cent).”
